Voxilla Selected By NextAlarm.com; Will Sell, Support and Configure VoIP Ready Alarm Systems .19 July 2005
NextAlarm.com, Inc., the only alarm company offering residential and small business security service accessible through broadband internet connections, and Voxilla, Inc., the world's leading source of news, technical information and gear for the Voice over IP revolution, have announced a far-reaching partnership agreement to make NextAlarm's suite of services available to US and Canada-based VoIP users.
Under the agreement, Voxilla will pre-provision, configure and distribute NextAlarm's Alarm Broadband Network adaptors to provide connectivity and reporting to alarm centers for homes and businesses over the Internet. Voxilla will also market and sell NextAlarm's complete alarm package, line of peripherals and service packages directly through its retail VoIP web sites (http://store.voxilla.com and http://store.voxilla.ca) and its VoIP service provider partners.
As part of the NextAlarm-Voxilla agreement, Voxilla will provide and support a specially configured analog telephone adaptor to NextAlarm's customers and network of resellers directly from Voxilla's fulfillment facilities in San Francisco, CA and recently opened Vancouver, BC location.
"This relationship is a natural fit," said Marcelo Rodriguez, founder and president of Voxilla, Inc. "The availability of a very powerful, highly useful and low-cost product like NextAlarm's offering eliminates yet another barrier to VoIP adoption."
NextAlarm's product line includes VoIP-ready around-the-clock alarm monitoring service throughout the US and Canada for rates as low as US$8.95 per month. The service can be used with any existing ContactID compliant alarm system. Virtually all alarm systems manufactured in the past 10 years can utilize the standard ContactID protocol.
"What NextAlarm has done is made it possible for VoIP users to entirely sever their ties to the PSTN and continue to have their alarm systems monitored, with the confidence that the authorities will be dispatched immediately, in the event of an emergency," said Rodriguez. "In light of current concerns about VoIP's limits with some emergency services, NextAlarm.com's Internet Alarm product is a timely offering."
NextAlarm.com offers its comprehensive alarm monitoring service throughout the 50 US states and all of Canada. When an event such as a burglary, fire or medical emergency occurs, a signal is automatically transmitted over the property's Internet connection to NextAlarm's monitoring centers. From there, the appropriate authorities are dispatched to the customer's location immediately.
"We are thrilled to be partnering with Voxilla," said H. Alexander Elliot, founder and CEO of Ojai, CA based NextAlarm.com. "Voxilla has an excellent reputation in the VoIP industry. Their distribution channels and expertise provides us with a highly effective method to bring our products to the rapidly expanding Voice over IP user base."
NextAlarm's offerings significantly surpass what traditional telephone-based alarm companies are able to provide. For example, customers can choose to be notified of events that utilize the alarm system, such as when someone enters or leaves the house, via a number of Internet protocols, including email and instant messaging.
"If you're expecting your son or daughter home by 3 pm, you can program your system to notify you at 3:15 pm if the alarm in your home has not been disarmed," said Elliot. "Because we are Internet based, we are able to offer services that go far beyond those offered by the conventional alarm companies, all readily accessible and easily configurable online."
Conventional alarm systems are not able to notify customers when their phone system in their home or business fails, thus rendering their alarm system inoperable. Unlike the traditional alarm system, NextAlarm's broadband monitoring service goes further by continuously polling to check if its customers have Internet connectivity. If the monitoring finds that the Internet connection is down in a customer's home, the customer can be notified immediately.
Voxilla will begin to offer NextAlarm's products directly through its US and Canada web sites beginning July 19th.
"Voxilla has helped literally thousands of people to get started with Voice over IP through its highly regarded support infrastructure," Elliot continued. "As the Internet segment of our business expands, we will be able to rely on Voxilla's experience to support our growing customer base."
