VoIP Provider IPtimize Acquires Digital Telecom and Technology - DTT1 December 2004
IPtimize, Inc., a Managed VoIP Services Provider serving small- and medium-size enterprises, today announced it has acquired the assets of Denver-based Digital Telecom & Technology (DTT). DTT, a provider of Internet Protocol (IP)-based telecom systems and IP integration services to businesses, specializes in IP phone systems from Toshiba, Nortel and Avaya. The company is Colorado’s largest Toshiba phone dealer.
“DTT’s local and national customer base and expertise in IP phones is complementary to our hosted VoIP solution,” said John R. Evans, Chairman and CEO of IPtimize. “We know that having both network- and hardware-based VoIP solutions provide customers with a greater range of choices as they migrate to this next wave of communications,” he added, noting that “more than 75 percent of all voice traffic will be carried over IP networks by 2007.”
Evans also said that in addition to being able to offer managed VoIP solutions to more than 3,000 combined customers, the DTT acquisition significantly increases IPtimize’s revenue and presence in the Denver marketplace.
“IPtimize is developing a growing portfolio of managed services that help businesses prepare their data network for VoIP and manage that network for them,” noted Michael Dozier, Vice President of Sales and Operations for DTT, who will join IPtimize as its Chief Operating Officer.
DTT CEO Rus Withers will also join IPtimize as Vice President of National Accounts. “Our customers have been asking for the expanded service and delivery capability the combined companies now provide,” he said.
In particular, IPtimize now offers stand-alone IP and hybrid IP Phone systems that allow businesses a VoIP migration path at their own pace, without abandoning their investment in their existing voice equipment.
IPtimize’s service offerings also include Voice PilotSM, a network-based VoIP application over an existing broadband connection. Distinguished by its minimal upfront capital investment requirements, Voice PilotSM is available via three mediums: a SIP-enabled handset (SIP, or Session Initiation Protocol, is a signaling protocol for Internet telephony), an analog handset (using an analog telephone adapter, or ATA), or a simple-to-use desktop application (“soft phone” on the PC).
IPtimize offers Voice PilotSM in three packages: Business Class, Solo and Economy. Business Class Voice PilotSM is a feature-rich VoIP package highly suited to the pro-active business seeking easier telecom management, improved productivity and reduced costs. Solo Voice PilotSM – for the small-office-home-office environment – provides all of the features and functionality of the office environment at lower costs but without group-setting functionality. Economy Voice PilotSM provides clients with a standard phone line that can be dedicated to a single function, such as faxing, for a low per-month charge.
