Voice Mobility Selects NMS Communications' Media Processing Technology for IMS-Compliant IP Mobile Centrex Solution10 January 2006
NMS Communications (NASDAQ: NMSS - News), a leading provider of technologies and solutions for mobile applications and infrastructure, today announced Voice Mobility is integrating NMS's media processing technology with Voice Mobility's messaging solution to enable an IMS-compliant IP Mobile Centrex solution for a large, Tier One enterprise equipment manufacturer. Voice Mobility develops a next-generation hosted IP messaging solution that hosts multiple tenants on the same secure platform. The solution allows carriers to integrate TDM and IP networks, facilitating a graceful migration from costly legacy technology to IP. Voice Mobility's enhanced messaging platform provides the latest messaging software solutions, from basic voicemail to next-generation value-added services like IP Mobile Centrex, Single-Number Follow Me, voicemail-to-email, fax-to-email and speech recognition integration. By integrating NMS's media processing technology, Voice Mobility is now able to deploy its messaging solution in VoIP networks using SIP.
According to IDC, hosted IP voice services are projected to grow at a compound annual rate of 282 percent, to reach US$7.6 billion in 2008. The combined solution will allow Voice Mobility to capitalize on this anticipated growth by targeting a broader set of wireless and wireline VoIP customers, including IP-PBX users within the enterprise market space.
"There is phenomenal growth occurring in the VoIP market. To develop superior enhanced messaging solutions to meet this growth, we partner with and leverage some of the world's most advanced telecommunications service providers, systems integrators, research institutions and original equipment providers," said Cliff McCollum, vice president of technology and development for Voice Mobility. "Our partnership with NMS is providing us with the media processing technology we need to quickly develop enhanced messaging capabilities that meet and anticipate the demanding needs of our Tier One customers."
"Our collaboration with Voice Mobility will provide customers with an integrated solution that delivers a rich set of enhanced messaging applications and functionality to drive productivity in the enterprise market," said Jerry Skurla, marketing director for NMS's Platform Solutions group. "Our media processing technology provides the flexibility to build high-value applications in a multi-tenant environment."
NMS's media processing technology provides the platforms and tools for developers to create innovative applications that run on general-purpose PCs. Supporting applications as diverse as IP media servers, voice portals, IP-based announcement servers and VoIP telephony testing systems, NMS's media processing technology includes rich functionality for comprehensive interactive voice response, DTMF generation and detection, speech encoding and decoding, and VoIP packetization.
