The new offering is a comprehensive solution that utilizes actual real-time customer
application traffic to assess VoIP readiness and, once VoIP is deployed, monitors site-to-site traffic to discover the root cause of VoIP performance problems. Select VoIP MRI(TM) is a module of the company's flagship offering, Visual UpTime(R) Select, which provides in-depth, real-time and historical information that enables enterprises to intelligently manage VoIP performance and network availability across the entire enterprise.
For enterprises preparing to deploy VoIP, the solution baselines network usage at all sites by utilizing actual customer traffic to deliver push-button analysis of existing performance levels and bandwidth usage. At each site, the analysis determines the number of VoIP calls that can be supported at each site and measures key performance metrics such as jitter and delay. Additionally, the new module provides throughput measurements and identifies users, applications and servers at each site, highlighting those that account for the majority of bandwidth consumption. The detailed information derived from the VoIP pre-assessment gives IT managers the necessary intelligence to take proactive measures that prepare the network for a successful VoIP deployment.
For existing VoIP deployments, Select VoIP MRI delivers real-time and historical measurements and reports on key performance metrics including round trip delay, jitter, packet delivery ratio, availability, bandwidth utilization, and granular burst analysis. By setting and monitoring customizable thresholds for these VoIP metrics, enterprises can maximize the number of concurrent VoIP calls at each site, meet voice-quality standards, and gain in-depth insight into the true nature of VoIP performance issues. Utilizing Select VoIP MRI, users can determine how applications, including newly deployed applications, are impacting VoIP call quality. For those enterprises on MPLS networks, Select VoIP MRI enables users to verify and optimize Class of Service (CoS) settings across the enterprise, helping improve VoIP quality and performance. And for existing Visual UpTime Select customers, this module can be activated by turning on a license key, eliminating truck rolls and additional hardware deployments.
