TRENDnet Helps Rebuild Communication Network Following Katrina

TRENDnet, a best-in-class

partnered with Part-15.org, an association representing Wireless Internet
Service Providers within the United States, to quickly rebuild a functional
communication network for federal, state and local government entities within
the hurricane-ravaged portions of Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama.

The unprecedented damage caused by hurricane Katrina has closed off
outside communication to a wide area spread across three states. Part-15.org
has been selected by the FCC to help facilitate the roll-out wireless
communication services into these hard hit areas. The Director of Federal
Communications Commission's Department of Homeland Security stated, "We would
like to extend our thanks to Part-15.org. These grassroots broadband service
providers have demonstrated their dedication to providing communications
services, wherever they are needed." TRENDnet has agreed to help support the
efforts of Part-15.org and its members by donating 1,000 of the TEW-432BRP
802.11g Wi-Fi Routers over the next several months to help deliver Voice over
IP and data services to areas that have been affected.
The use of wireless as an alternative or supplement to traditional land
and fixed-wire networks is being embraced as part of the rebuilding effort.
The use of license exempt broadband Wi-Fi access is a quick and affordable
alternative to help fill in the gaps where there are no communications
