TransNexus Contributes Open Source OSP Software to SIPfoundry for VOIP

TransNexus, Inc. has contributed version 3.3.1 of the OSP Toolkit to SIPfoundry (www.sipfoundry.org). The new release of the OSP Toolkit includes support for compressed, digitally signed OSP authorization tokens which are small enough to fit into a single UDP packet. The new feature enables any SIP application to benefit from secure inter-domain peering using the Open Settlement Protocol (OSP).

The Open Settlement Protocol is an IP operations and billing support systems protocol defined by the European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI), www.etsi.org. OSP is officially known as ETSI Technical Specification 101321 for inter-domain pricing, authorization and usage exchange. “The OSP protocol was developed to enable direct multi-lateral peering among VoIP networks. OSP provides secure inter-domain access control and eliminates costly network bottlenecks”, stated Richard Brennan, Chairman of ETSI TISPAN Next Generation Network Architecture working group.

The source code for the new release of the OSP Toolkit may be downloaded from www.sipfoundry.org.
