Time Warner Telecom Delivers Voice and Data Network Solutions to Presbyterian Homes24 October 2005
Time Warner Telecom Inc. (Nasdaq: TWTC - News), a leading provider of managed voice and data networking solutions for businesses, today announced the successful installation of Native LAN metro Ethernet service and voice services for The Presbyterian Homes, a High Point, North Carolina-based provider of retirement communities.
Time Warner Telecom initially won a competitive bid contract to supply Native LAN to expand Presbyterian Homes' capability for data applications. Based on Time Warner Telecom's ability to quickly and cost-effectively deliver this solution to Presbyterian Homes, it was awarded an additional contract to provide local voice solutions. As a result, Time Warner Telecom now provides the company with metro Ethernet as well as local and long distance voice services. Presbyterian Homes is the latest customer to benefit from the high capacity network for voice and data services that Time Warner Telecom extended into High Point.
Time Warner Telecom installed fiber to three of Presbyterian Homes Retirement Community locations providing a native LAN Ethernet solution that replaced their legacy Frame Relay network. This type of network provides business class redundancy and protection for critical voice and data services at these facilities. With this solution, Presbyterian Homes' network bandwidth increased 20 times at three locations and doubled bandwidth at two additional locations. As a result, Presbyterian Homes can now easily support its state of the art technology infrastructure supporting Cisco's converged networks utilizing IP Telephony, Video over IP, wireless and Cisco Emergency Responder Systems. The network infrastructure provides centralized management using a high performance connection while simultaneously reducing costs.
