Teledex Announces New iPhone VoIP and iPhone Hybrid Telephones24 October 2005

Both phones feature a brilliant, 5.6-inch color touch screen display that enables the delivery of multiple forms of content and services to the phone. Pure VoIP or Unique, Convertible Hybrid Make iPhone Right for Everyone
iPhone is available as either a pure VoIP phone, or as a convertible analog/VoIP hybrid phone. The two iPhones are identical in appearance; the key difference between the two versions is the electronics within. The iPhone IP model is a full VoIP solution, ready for integration into a SIP environment. The iPhone Hybrid model combines analog voice with an IP-based, data-driven display, enabling all lodging properties, even those with analog voice infrastructures, to deliver the latest in leading edge functionality and service. The iPhone Hybrid can be easily converted to a pure VoIP phone (iPhone IP) with a simple firmware upgrade to the telephone, if a hotel decides to upgrade to a VoIP environment in the future.
Color TouchScreen Display for Brilliant Graphics
The iPhone display telephones feature a brilliant, 5.6 inch (diagonal) interactive color touch screen display that's usually reserved for phones that cost hundreds more. The color display invites guests to interact with their guest room telephone, to find information about their hotel or the surrounding area, order food and other items, get news, sports, and weather information, and more. Using the iPhone Content Management Console (CMC) and Content Aggregator Server (CAS), content that is delivered to the iPhones is highly customizable by the hotel, allowing for substantial branding and marketing opportunities.
The new Teledex iPhones are designed to help hoteliers accomplish two mission-critical strategic objectives: 1) Generate new revenues that, until now, were unattainable, and 2) Cut operating costs.
iPhone Helps Generate New Revenues
By providing a highly refined guest room interface, iPhone enables the generation of multiple new revenue streams, for example:
Advertising -- Hotels can now sell advertising that displays on the guest room phone. Guests can find out more information about, for example, the hotel spa, where they can learn in detail about the services provided, and set reservations or make purchases right through the iPhone touch screen display. Restaurant menus can be displayed along with color pictures of dishes and entrees, to encourage increased use of on-site restaurants or room service. Hotel-branded items for sale can be browsed and purchased.
iPhone Helps Cut Operating Costs
iPhone also helps hotels reduce their current operating costs, by eliminating or reducing the use of many present cost items, for example:
Elimination of guest room printed material -- Hotels spend untold thousands of dollars providing in-room printed materials that quickly go out of date or get lost. iPhone addresses the problem, by providing a mechanism for communicating important information to guests in an easily-updatable form that does not require expensive reprinting and distribution. Changes are made electronically, and show up on the iPhone display immediately. For example, pre-order cards for breakfast can be eliminated, as guests can pre-order their breakfast using the iPhone.
Reduction of staff service calls -- Hotels can make as much information available on the iPhone as they wish, helping guests find information or place orders on their own. Calls to the front desk and other staff locations cost money, as a hotel must staff positions to receive guest calls. By making more information available to the guest on iPhone, staffing costs can be reduced.
Automated ordering processes -- Virtually any order process that presently requires hotel staff can be accomplished with the iPhone display interface and integrated into property PMS by the iPhone Content Management System, reducing staffing costs.
