Tachyon Announces Expanded VoIP Offering Via Satellite Broadband25 March 2005
Tachyon Networks Incorporated ("Tachyon"), carrier-grade satellite broadband solutions provider to multinational enterprises and government agencies since 1997, announced that it is now offering an expanded Voice over IP (VoIP) service to its enterprise and government customers.
Tachyon's new service provides high voice quality by prioritizing voice packets over data during transmission. This allows for minimal packet loss and ensures completion of the transmission for enterprise and government customers. Like its data transmission services, Tachyon guarantees the new VoIP offering with industry-leading service level agreements.
Tachyon's enterprise-grade VoIP service is compatible with all major VoIP providers and allows for customized configuration based on the multiple international standards developed to support this growing communications protocol. The new satellite-based service enables effective management of the technical challenges of VoIP communication, such as packet loss and the "jitter" typically associated with satellite-based communication.
"Our customers in both the enterprise and government sectors have demanded this service as they seek to minimize the number of providers they must manage," said Peter Carides, president and CEO. "Our guaranteed VoIP service will be of great value to those customers who require vital voice and data communications options in times of network congestion or failure, or when traditional landline networks are unavailable or unreliable."
Tachyon is demonstrating its VoIP offering at Satellite 2005, the industry's largest and most prestigious gathering, bringing together the leading companies, top CEO's, business executives and end users for cutting-edge conference sessions and exhibition. Satellite 2005 is being held from March 22-25, at the Washington, D.C., Convention Center.
