SecureLogix to Outline VoIP Security Issues at InAAU International Conference13 June 2005
SecureLogix Corporation announced today that Chief Technology Officer Mark Collier will discuss firewall issues associated with VoIP and vulnerabilities specific to Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) over three presentations sponsored by the International Alliance of Avaya Users (InAAU) at the 2005 InAAU International Conference. The conference will be held from June 12-16 at the Washington State Convention Center in Seattle, Washington. In addition, SecureLogix will exhibit the voice/VoIP firewall and intrusion prevention capabilities of the company's ETM® (Enterprise Telephony Management) System at booth #125 of the InAAU conference.

The "VoIP and Firewalls" sessions will outline many of the security challenges facing VoIP deployments with a focus on the specific problems VoIP creates for traditional network firewalls, including separate signaling and media, embedded media port addresses, encryption, performance, and reliability.
The "SIP Security" presentation will detail various security vulnerabilities and solutions associated with SIP, which is generally viewed as the future protocol of choice for VoIP systems. SIP provides very limited inherent security, and deployment of SIP-based systems introduces new voice service vulnerabilities including registration hijacking, proxy impersonation, SIP message tampering, session tear down, denial of service, and network address translation.
