Samsung BCS Launches OfficeServ(TM) 7400 Converged Platform; New Wireless-Wireline Platform Offers Faster Speeds, Higher Port Capacity14 June 2006
Samsung has released the bigger, faster and more feature-rich OfficeServ(TM) 7400 converged platform, demonstrating its continued commitment to meeting the needs of its enterprise end-users. The OfficeServ 7400 offers higher port capacity, a gigabit Ethernet backbone and 64-channel MGI cards that enable larger VoIP applications and support for up to 500 users. The new platform also maintains the true convergence of wireless, wireline, analog voice, VoIP and data capabilities on a single platform, a concept first introduced in October 2005 with the OfficeServ 7200 platform. "The introduction of the OfficeServ 7400 offers a more powerful infrastructure for more powerful applications for more users -- regardless of the type of traffic," said Steve Gobeli, vice president of Samsung Telecommunications America, Business Communication Systems Division. "This larger platform enables enterprise customers to accommodate more users and support the more advanced data applications they're now using or may use in the future." Like the OfficeServ 7200, the new platform offers enterprises true flexibility and efficiency through an integrated wireless and wireline platform. It provides full support for Samsung's VoIP, Wireless LAN (WLAN), and traditional phones, IP phones, IP-based data and other business communications peripherals and allows for voice call Quality of Service (QoS) control. The OfficeServ 7400 platform handles voice calls and data using a flexible array of modules, including Local Area Network (LAN) and Wide Area Network (WAN) modules as well as a gigabit Ethernet backbone and data modules supporting Power over Ethernet for more advanced data networking requirements. "In addition to the support for faster speeds and larger size, one of the real benefits of this new platform is how easy it is to install and maintain, whether upgrading from the OfficeServ 7200 or starting with a single platform," added Gobeli. "This is critical for our dealers and companies that don't have extensive IT departments or large IT budgets." The new system is designed for easy migration from the OfficeServ 7200 by using many of the existing system components as well as uniform installation and maintenance procedures. Based on the simplified design, an enterprise can begin with a single platform and grow its system up to three cabinets -- ultimately supporting as many as 1,344 ports when needed. From the dealer perspective, the uniformity and consistency between platform components and easy integration with other Samsung products, such as traditional voice or IP phones, greatly reduce the need for additional training and, therefore, the additional costs associated with deploying the system for end-users. "Communication is the driving force behind every organization -- whether big or small," added Gobeli. "By really listening to our network of dealers and to enterprise end-users, we have been able to design and provide a single communications tool that enables mobility, productivity, flexibility and efficiency for smaller enterprises, for standard offices or for more advanced data center environments -- all at a fraction of the cost of other solutions." The OfficeServ 7400 converged platform is available now through Samsung's dealer network.
