Quintum Tenors VoIP Switch Achieves iBasis DirectVoIP(TM) Certification10 May 2005
Quintum Technologies, a leading innovator in VoIP technology, announced today that iBasis, Inc. (OTC Bulletin Board: IBAS), a leader in international long distance, VoIP, and prepaid calling cards, has certified the Tenor AXT and AXM VoIP MultiPath Switches for interoperability with their international VoIP network through the iBasis DirectVoIP(TM) Certified program.
As a result of the certification, iBasis customers and partners that deploy the Tenor AXT or AXM Series VoIP MultiPath Switches in their networks where analog termination is required and digital circuits are not available, will be able to establish direct interconnections to exchange international traffic with the iBasis network. iBasis and Quintum engineers collaborated to develop the necessary software enhancements to enable the Quintum platform to achieve DirectVoIP certification as a very cost-effective analog solution. iBasis required refinements to provide effective call supervision to support iBasis' high quality standards. Call supervision issues can be particularly difficult problems for service providers to solve. "Quintum was very responsive to our technical requirements, and we collaborated very effectively to enhance call supervision and overcome interoperability challenges," said Paul Floyd, iBasis senior vice president of research and development. "As a result, we're able to provide our wholesale trading partners an effective analog interconnection to our VoIP network in those difficult international markets where digital connections simply are not an option." Through its DirectVoIP(TM) Certified program, iBasis has certified the Quintum Tenor AXT and AXM Series devices for interconnection with the iBasis network. The verified interoperability between Quintum and iBasis allows service providers with Tenors in their POPs to establish interconnections to the iBasis global network in a fast and straight-forward manner. "Carriers and service providers can now benefit from Quintum's integrated VoIP solutions and expand their termination revenue," said Chuck Rutledge, VP of Marketing for Quintum. "At the same time, they can leverage iBasis' superior quality and operational expertise in deploying IP to IP interconnections. Our inclusion in the DirectVoIP(TM) Certified program also makes it easier for Quintum's service provider customers to work with iBasis and gain access to the high volume of international traffic iBasis carries."
