pulver Communicator Enables OEMs to Market New VoIP Products and Services7 January 2005
FWD Communications announced today the release of pulver.Communicator(TM) (http://www.pulver.com/communicator ) to OEMs looking to offer innovative new VoIP products and services to their customers. Introduced in October 2004, the pulver.Communicator product is an innovative new application that combines the best elements of IP Communications -- instant messaging (IM), voice, video, presence, and social networking -- into one platform. "Already pulver.Communicator has received a lot of interest from ISPs and PC manufacturers who are looking to bundle the product into their services and products," said Jeff Pulver, chairman of FWD Communications. "Our application may eventually be ubiquitous to every Desktop, meaning that if you have a computer you also have pulver.Communicator. I can see tens of millions of people using pulver.Communicator someday -- not only on their computers, but on their PDAs and mobile phones as well."
Since pulver.Communicator was launched in October of this year the application has been downloaded over 50,000 times, adding significantly to the growth of the "always on" community. And since its debut a number of new features have been added to the product, including video instant messaging and greatly enhanced blocking capability.
Communicator Features Users of pulver.Communicator can communicate via voice, video, or text (Instant Messaging, SMS). Specifically, the application enables users to: -- Make free long-distance Internet phone calls to millions of VoIP users worldwide (not only to other Pulver.Communicator users, but also to subscribers from the more than 60 VoIP service providers with whom FWD Communications has established partnering agreements), as well as to a wide variety of Free-Call services in the US, UK, Holland, Japan, France and numerous other locations. -- Initiate on-the-fly conference calls with SIP-enabled contacts that simultaneously support both voice and Instant Messaging. -- Establish person-to-person IM sessions with other pulver.Communicator contacts, as well as between contacts on the four most popular IM networks (AOL, Yahoo!, MSN, and ICQ!) -- Establish multi-party IM sessions that cross IM service provider boundaries -- Place video calls to their SIP-based contacts -- Establish VoIP connectivity to non-VoIP-enabled contacts through a call-back service that does not require the installation of special software -- Enjoy and expand their personal networking. Through the Shared Buddy List feature users can view the buddy lists of other subscribers, and they can share their own (of course, pulver.Communicator can be easily configured to limit or completely restrict contact information sharing at the user's discretion).
