Pasquale Romano Appointed President and CEO of 2Wire, Inc.

3 November 2006

2Wire, Inc., a provider of broadband service delivery platforms, today announced the appointment of Pasquale "Pat" Romano as 2Wire's president and chief executive officer. Mr. Romano's appointment is the conclusion of an extensive executive search involving both internal and external candidates.

Pat Romano (41), succeeds Brian Hinman (45), as chief executive, with Mr. Hinman continuing his service on 2Wire's board of directors.

Brian Hinman said: "2Wire is now stronger than ever, and growing rapidly. Having achieved the current state of stability and sustained growth, I feel the time is right to fully pass the reigns of the company to my very capable co-founder and friend, Pat Romano. I am confident in Pat's ability to assume the role of CEO and guide 2Wire to its next level of growth. Together, Pat and I built the foundation for 2Wire over eight years ago. At that time, we were just friends with a slide deck, some seed funding and a shared vision of a broadband world to come. Since then, we have established 2Wire as the standard-bearer for best practices in providing broadband products and services and helped improve the broadband experience for DSL subscribers around the world."

"We are grateful to Brian for his crucial role in establishing 2Wire's strategic direction and tireless promotion of the 2Wire vision at a time when the future of broadband was so uncertain." said Mr. Romano. "I am also personally honored by the faith placed in my abilities by Brian and the 2Wire Board of Directors in appointing me 2Wire's next CEO. This is a pivotal time for both 2Wire and for the broadband industry, as the triple play we have been visualizing and promoting for the past eight years finally becomes a reality. 2Wire is optimally positioned as a leading provider in this space and I intend to maximize our role in the industry growth ahead."

Pat Romano and Brian Hinman co-founded 2Wire in 1998, with the shared vision of enabling telecom companies to deliver an integrated triple play of broadband services to rival and surpass the offerings of cable companies. Before the term "triple play" had become an industry buzz word, Hinman and Romano were busy pitching the telecom industry with their vision of a consumer-friendly networked home with fully integrated data, voice and entertainment services, all provided via existing phone lines.

At the start, despite 2Wire's relatively small size, its vision, positioning, and unique focus helped to land large distribution and service agreements with major telecoms like SBC Communications, BellSouth, British Telecom and TELMEX. DSL providers flourished over the years, and became the dominant distributors of broadband data, voice and entertainment services in homes and offices around the world.

Under Hinman and Romano's leadership, 2Wire quickly established itself as a broadband industry pioneer, driving business trends and technology standardization through active participation in industry organizations and through collaboration and alliances with local exchange carriers. With six million broadband gateways currently installed with more than 30 service providers worldwide, 2Wire is now a recognized market leader in broadband platforms for the DSL market. 2Wire's media platform, currently deployed by AT&T, is the first hybrid set top box and backend management software to fully integrate traditional linear broadcasting with broadband Internet media content.

2Wire continues to produce industry leading customer care and management solutions for the service provider market. Its market leading backend management system is deployed in several major service provider networks worldwide, in addition to supporting nearly six million gateways on an outsourced basis. 2Wire's unique approach to customer care services has achieved top rated customer satisfaction, while driving down costs for service providers.

Ranked among the 500 fastest growing privately held companies for the past three consecutive years, 2Wire currently has 581 employees located in 14 offices around the world. 2Wire is profitable with revenues of $220 million in 2005.

About Mr. Romano

Prior to his current appointment as president and chief executive officer, Pat Romano was vice president and general manager of 2Wire's gateway business unit, where he was responsible for providing leading edge residential and small business broadband gateways to the service provider market. Before that, he served as 2Wire's vice president of engineering and chief technology officer. Prior to co-founding 2Wire, Mr. Romano held several engineering and marketing director-level positions at Polycom, Inc. In 1989, Mr. Romano co-founded Fluent, Inc., a digital video networking company, and served as chief architect until the company was sold to Novell Corporation in 1993. Mr. Romano earned his undergraduate degree in computer science from Harvard University, and received his master's degree from the MIT Media Laboratory.
