No Missed Appointments: New Online Calendar Provides Voice Reminders of Scheduled Events26 February 2006
OutlookEnvoy (tm) has announced the creation of a new online calendar reminder service that can also work with Microsoft Outlook (tm) by placing a reminder call to any phone to prevent forgotten appointments, meetings, and events. "Many of us have tried to use the tools available to us to stay organized, but somehow we still manage to be human and miss important activities, events, and meetings. Computer calendar systems work fine, if you are at your computer, but if you are on the go and miss seeing your computer calendar that day you may get so busy that you forget something just because you are human and space out," said Tom Boshans, developer of OutlookEnvoy.com. There are two ways to use the new service. One is a stand-alone online calendar that has the look and feel of Microsoft Outlook, or you can use an add-in feature that is easy to download and plugs into Outlook XP or Outlook 2003. It is like having a virtual secretary that helps busy executives keep appointments. "There is nothing new to learn. Just schedule an appointment like you normally do in your PDA or on your computer, and your Outlook program combined with OutlookEnvoy will automatically place a phone call to you with a voice reminder. It will actually speak the reminder to you. You can even have it text message the reminder to you at the same number or another number you choose," explained Boshans. Other calendars with a reminder service or alarm require the user to be at their computer, or to have their PDA in their possession in order to be notified of a scheduled appointment. The OutlookEnvoy system has the advantage that it works 24/7 even when the computer is turned off. Those who use a PDA simply sync their PDA handheld device to Microsoft Outlook and OutlookEnvoy will automatically place reminder calls at the selected time. "Once you create the reminder, you can turn your computer off because the call is made on our state-of-the-art servers, not over your existing phone line. So there is no cost added to your phone bill and you do not need to be near your computer to be reminded. "You can use OutlookEnvoy for almost anything you can imagine, such as a doctor's appointment, meetings, your child's soccer game, bill reminders, anniversaries and birthdays, even to give yourself a wakeup call," said Boshans. The company provides a free demo of the service on their web site at http://www.OutlookEnvoy.com.
