MyWebCalls Gives Trade Price VoIP Calls to Help Relatives Contact Victims of the Asian Earthquake

MyWebCalls (www.mywebcalls.com) today announced that it is offering VoIP calls to Pakistan at only 10.5c per minute through October 31, 2005. The low price is a non-profit making price and is aimed at assisting people to contact their relatives in the areas of Pakistan devastated by the major earthquake on October 8.

The price of 10.5c/min compares to a price of 26.5c/min from Skype and 27c/min from Vonage. MyWebCalls charges no sign up fee or monthly fees. Customers simply pay for the calls they dial.

People wishing to use MyWebCalls should visit the company's web site at http://www.mywebcalls.com and sign up for an account. Upon sign up, customers should download the calling software to their computer.

The software allows people to call land line telephones from their personal computer at the advertised rate. The software also allows users to call other MyWebCalls users for free.

On October 8, an earthquake measuring 7.6 struck the Himalayan province of Kashmir in Northern Pakistan. Entire homes, schools and other buildings were levelled with people still trapped inside. As the first stage of search and rescue efforts come to a bitter end, the death toll in Pakistan stands at 35,000. Over 2 million people remain homeless and aid crews are rushing to set up tent cities for the displaced before the rainy season brings violent thunderstorms.

"We were deeply moved by the scenes of devastation and human suffering in Pakistan," said Darren Westlake, spokesperson for ID Telecoms, the parent company of MyWebCalls.
