Mitel Delivers Full-Value Enterprise IP Communications With Networked Business Solutions1 March 2006
r> OTTAWA, Feb. 28 - Mitel(R) today announced significant enhancements to its flagship enterprise IP communications platform and industry-leading portfolio of networked business solutions that enable better, faster decision making, increased productivity and efficiency, lower costs and investment protection. Mitel (booth No.503) will feature the company's award- winning portfolio of enterprise IP communications platforms and applications including its latest offering of networked business solutions at VoiceCon Spring 2006, March 6-9 at the Gaylord Palms Resort and Convention Center in Orlando, Florida.
The introduction of Release 7 of the Mitel 3300 IP Communications Platform (ICP) builds on the enterprise-grade scalability (65,000 concurrent users in a single cluster) and security features provided in Release 6 with the addition of:
- improved resilience with user feature transparency, redundant T1/E1/PRI
connections, redundant hard drives and power supplies in distributed,
centralized, hybrid, or hosted environments;
- native Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) trunking and SIP networking
capability to support remote gateways, deliver reduced connectivity
costs to end customers and provide open access to feature-rich IP
networking;
- new applications with Live Business Gateway and mobility capabilities.

Introducing Mitel Live Business Gateway
The Mitel 3300 Live Business Gateway (LBG) provides seamless integration between the 3300 ICP, legacy communications solutions, Microsoft Office Live Communications Server 2005 and the Microsoft Office Communicator 2005 integrated communications client. Now generally available and installed in customer sites, Live Business Gateway leverages legacy environments and simplifies communications between businesses. With Live Business Gateway, users can invoke telephony and presence features from within the Microsoft Office suite of applications and from within Mitel applications including Mitel Customer Interaction Solutions and Mitel NuPoint Messenger(TM) IP.
Mobility Solutions with Mobile Extension
Mitel Mobile Extension rounds out Mitel's broad suite of Mobility Solutions that address personal mobility, campus mobility and enterprise mobility for corridor warriors, teleworkers and staff on the road. Mobile Extension enables a 3300 ICP or Mitel SX-200 IP Communications Platform (ICP) user to link their deskphone with an internal or external PSTN-connected phone (i.e. a cell phone or wireless handset). When the user's desk phone rings, the twinned phone will ring simultaneously. The twinning feature allows users to manage and publish one contact number, providing a truly integrated mobile and desktop experience.
Mobile Extension extends some of the most popular PBX features to this twinned device, providing mobile employees with office-like PBX telephony features, regardless of their location or telephone device.
Messaging Solutions - Carrier Grade, Enterprise Priced
Release 10 of the Mitel NuPoint Messenger(TM) IP Model 640 provides higher scalability and resiliency expanding from eight to 240 ports and over 100,000 mailboxes. Using state-of-the-art technology and leveraging open industry standards such as SIP, Mitel builds on NuPoint Messenger(TM) IP's leadership position as an open, standards-based messaging solution. The carrier-grade messaging solution ensures maximum flexibility for technology evolution without the need for costly upgrades or replacements.
