IFX Deploys Aperto Networks Broadband Wireless Solutions in Colombia and Argentina

26 October 2005

Aperto Networks, a leading WiMAX systems provider serving over 200 operators in 65 countries, announced today that IFX Networks, the leading provider of network connectivity to corporate customers in Latin America, is deploying Aperto Networks PacketWave® broadband wireless solutions in Buenos Aires, Argentina and in several major cities in Colombia, including Bogota, Cali, Medellin, and Bucaramanga.

Initially, IFX expects to use Aperto Networks' gear to market IP, MPLS, VPN, and VOIP services to small and medium sized businesses and corporate customers. Later, they expect to serve consumer and residential markets.

"We chose Aperto Networks because of their reputation for having the most advanced broadband wireless technology and the most reliable equipment in the industry," said Jack Bursztyn, CEO of IFX Corporation. "Aperto Networks is the acknowledged leader for WiMAX. We believe our strategic alignment with Aperto will contribute to IFX's growth and expansion. We look forward to being Aperto's partner in the deployment of PacketMAX, WiMAX solutions that Aperto is rolling out in the coming months."

Aperto Networks WiMAX class system gives service providers a fully integrated, service-intelligent, entry-level platform for building low-density broadband wireless networks for personalized service delivery. The PacketWave system architecture features an innovative multi-service design, highly scalable capacity and coverage, dynamic per-subscriber link optimization technology, rapid deployment, and ease of management.

"We are very pleased that IFX has chosen Aperto Networks as their WiMAX partner. IFX is one of the largest service providers in Latin America, providing network connectivity, long distance telephony and a broad range of value-added services to corporations, carriers and ISPs in nine Latin American countries," said Reza Ahy, chairman and CEO of Aperto Networks. "The WiMAX revolution -- the ability to deliver high-quality services with high capacity and lower prices -- is taking hold in Latin America and we are excited to be working shoulder to shoulder with IFX in making it happen."

IFX is one of the largest service providers in Latin America, providing network connectivity, long distance telephony and a broad range of value-added services to corporations, carriers and ISPs in nine Latin American countries. It also offers MPLS-based services (multi-protocol label switching) and other state-of-the-art networks services to all segments of the market.

Aperto's solution is designed to deliver optimal performance and flexibility. Aperto offers radios for the 2.5, 3.3, 3.5, 5.3, and 5.8 GHz bands. This wide range of frequency options lets providers scale coverage and capacity to meet the unique requirements of subscribers and to accommodate specific areas of operation.
