HBF to provide VoIP 9-1-1 service in US and Canada for Volo Communications22 March 2005
HBF Group, Inc., North America’s E9-1-1 technology leader, today announced an agreement with Volo Communications, (Volo) a leading nationwide wholesale provider of advanced voice and data services, to provide 9-1-1 services on their VoiceOne™ Network services. HBF’s i-911 VoIP Solution was chosen by Volo because of its ability to deliver both the subscriber’s callback number and location information to the appropriate Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) that serves their customer’s current location.
HBF’s i-911 VoIP Solution is the latest offering from HBF, which has been deploying 9-1-1 wireline and wireless solutions in the United States and Canada since 1985. A key feature of the i-911 solution is the ability to deliver callback number and location information through a web-based XML document. This enables PSAPs to see a validated address at the same time that a VoIP 9-1-1 call is delivered to their center.
“HBF’s ability to provide service throughout the United States and Canada was a key factor in choosing them to provide 9-1-1 services in North American.” said Shawn Lewis, President and CEO of Volo. “i-911’s advanced technology delivers the scalability we need in a very cost effective manner.”
As compared with other VoIP 9-1-1 solutions that rely on infrastructure which may be limited to major metropolitan areas, HBF’s i-911 is being deployed throughout the United States and Canada. “Our i-911 is a great solution for a company like Volo since it provides the safety needed today and the flexibility to migrate to future VoIP 9-1-1 solutions as industry standards are finalized”, said Hank Johnson, CEO of HBF. “We are definitely on track with our XML and SIP technologies and our partnership with another ‘Pulver 100’ firm such as Volo affirms it.”
