GattoBroadband Enters Into Joint Venture With Doctor Wireless To Provide Mobile Wireless Solutions24 October 2005
GattoBroadband (www.gattobroadband.com) announced an exclusive partnership today with Doctor Wireless - The Digital Home Company™ (www.doctorwireless.com) to provide secure mobile high-speed Internet access anywhere and at anytime.
GattoBroadband, a product of GattoMedia Inc.(www.gattomedia.com), uses vehicle-installed satellite and Wi-Fi technology to provide a Broadband Internet connection and Wi-Fi hotspot anywhere needed. Multiple VOIP phones, Inmarsat M4 satellite phone service, streaming audio and video tools, and live webcasting and video-conferencing services are also available through use of the GattoBroadband vehicles. GattoBroadband provides instant hotspot options for a range of clients, including event planning companies, outdoor concerts and festivals, off-site corporate clients, films sets, news organizations and various other events, promotions and conferences.
“Doctor Wireless is one of the fastest growing wireless solutions companies in the New York area today and its leader, Dr. Koby Sharony, is one of the brightest minds on the technology scene,” said President of GattoMedia, Tony Gatto, announcing the alliance, “His keen understanding of the wireless world, emerging technologies and how to apply them to everyday living is unmatched. I am excited about this new partnership and I look forward to working with Koby on improving our current products and services and implementing new ones as technologies emerge.”
Doctor Wireless’ extensive experience in Wi-Fi networks and VoIP solutions ensures users of the GattoBroadband service that they are surfing on a strong, firewall-protected network, and that their information processing and mobile credit card transactions are fast and secure. The network also offers authentication, accounting, and automated billing solutions.
“We are delighted to partner with GattoBroadband to offer best of breed wireless solutions and services anytime, anywhere” said Dr. Koby Sharony, President of Doctor Wireless, about the partnership. “In addition to providing a hotspot option, we have also enabled the vehicle to stream music wirelessly for temporary venues such as golf tournaments and expos. This is just the beginning. We are providing the best solutions that are available today, but we will consider any and all technologies as the landscape changes. The possibilities of what we can do with GattoBroadband are only limited to our imagination.”
Doctor Wireless designed and constructed the wireless network currently employed by GattoBroadband. Through the unique structure, companies can either charge individual users at their location a flat fee for access to the service, or a sponsor can cover the cost of “hotspotting” the whole event. In return, sponsors will be able to have their ad or logo visible on each user’s screen while they are logged on to the network.
GattoBroadband previewed its service during a promotion with NY Waterway Ferry last week, and will be showcasing their service around the New York Metropolitan area for the rest of October. Expansion for the GattoBroadband service is planned in the first quarter of 2006 for Los Angeles, Washington and Atlanta.
