CyberTAN expects rising VoIP shipments in 4Q
WLAN-equipment maker CyberTAN Technology is anticipating an increase in monthly shipments of its voice-over-IP (VoIP) products in the fourth quarter, growing from 20,000-30,000 units to 100,000 units, according to company president David Chiang.
The VoIP product line will contribute 20-25% of CyberTAN’s overall revenues in the first quarter of next year, said Chiang, adding that the company may hit NT$20 billion in 2006, buoyed by a rise in VoIP sales.
Due to a loss from CyberTAN’s non-core business, the maker downgraded its financial forecast for the year from an original target of NT$12.119 billion to NT$11.965 billion, as reported on August 27. However, CyberTAN jumped almost five percentage points on-quarter in gross margins to 15.6% in the third quarter and reached record quarterly revenues of NT$3.422 billion, Chiang stated.
In addition to VoIP shipment growth, CyberTAN began filling WLAN-module orders from an unnamed Japan-based customer early this month, Chiang indicated. Revenues in the fourth quarter should match third-quarter revenues at around NT$3 billion, Chiang forecast.
