ECI Telecom Receives First Commercial Order for Its Fiber-to-the-Home Broadband Triple Play20 December 2004
The ECI solution will allow the customer to deliver advanced "triple play" services - video, voice and data - to its customers over an optical broadband connection.
This order represents the first mass commercial deployment of FTTH PON in Europe, and follows last month's announcement that ECI's equipment is carrying live traffic in England as part of BT's 21st Century Network initiative. ECI's carrier-grade Passive Optical Network (PON) FTTH products allow carriers to provide broadband speeds of up to hundreds of megabits per second to subscribers.
The ECI solution was strategically selected as it cost-effectively integrates video, voice and data services from a single, highly flexible platform. The Hi-FOCuS(TM)4 Multi Service Access Gateway is used at the central office side and the Hi-FOCuS B-Light family of ONTs is used at the customer premises.
"This order demonstrates once again the strength of the ECI-Nortel strategic relationship, as the two companies continue to deliver leading edge broadband technology to a widening customer base," said Doron Inbar, ECI's President and CEO. "By being the first company to mass deploy an FTTH PON solution in Europe, ECI continues to demonstrate technological leadership in its focus markets."
