Digital Telecommunications Inc. Selects Lucent Technologies and Dynavar Corporation to Roll Out VoIP Services; DTI to Deploy Lucent Compact Switch as7 May 2006
Lucent Technologies (NYSE:LU) and Dynavar Corporation, an accredited Lucent Sales Business Partner, today announced a contract with Digital Telecommunications Inc. (DTI), a telecommunications service provider based in Winona, Minn., for equipment from Lucent's Accelerate(TM) Next Generation Communications Solutions that will enable DTI to deliver advanced integrated services to its business and residential customers.
DTI is a Competitive Local Exchange Carrier (CLEC) that provides local and long distance telephone service, Internet access and data solutions to business and residential customers throughout Minnesota, Iowa and parts of Wisconsin. Lucent's solution will enable DTI to grow its network and cost-effectively offer advanced next-generation services such as Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) while maintaining its ability to provide traditional telephone service.
Under the agreement, DTI will deploy a complete network solution including the Lucent Compact Switch and the PacketStar(R) PSAX Multiservice Media Gateway, in addition to select equipment from Lucent's Stinger(R) family of products. Lucent's VoIP solution will enable DTI to migrate toward a facilities-based platform, reducing operating costs and creating additional revenue opportunities.
Dynavar will provide the network engineering, integration and deployment services for the installation. Lucent Worldwide Services will provide maintenance.

The Lucent switch also can serve as a building block for carriers that choose to migrate to an IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) network to offer blended lifestyle services.
The Lucent Compact Switch can support from as few as 1,000 subscribers to more than 100,000 subscribers on a single integrated platform. Service providers can deploy the switch for end-office (Class 5) and tandem (Class 4) applications to replace an existing switch or as an addition to the network. In addition to providing VoIP, Internet off-load and gateway mobile switching center features, the compact switch also offers CALEA and E911 capabilities.
