Cygnal Technologies implements new call centre to strengthen Guest-Tek customer service capabilities8 June 2006
Cygnal Technologies Corporation (TSX: CYN), a leading Canadian provider of network communication solutions, has designed and implemented a new global call centre system at Guest-Tek, the world's largest provider of broadband technology solutions for the hospitality industry. The new system represents a significant upgrade from Guest-Tek's previous call centre technology, and is expected to enhance the Company's customer service and support capabilities. "We are excited about this installation at Guest-Tek," said Jos Wintermans, President and CEO of Cygnal Technologies. "The economic boom in Western Canada extends well beyond the energy sector, and Guest-Tek is a leading example of a locally-based company that has pursued global opportunities." With its high-speed Internet access services installed at over 3,280 properties worldwide and a growing presence in voice-over-IP and digital video-on-demand services, Guest-Tek currently receives approximately 50,000 calls per month from guests requiring assistance. Call volumes are expected to increase and Guest-Tek required a more robust call centre system to continue its track record of a 99.5% success rate in getting guests online. Cygnal designed a multi-site call centre solution based on Avaya's industry-leading S8710 Media Server platform. The Voice-over-IP (VOIP)-based technology incorporates numerous robust features and reporting capabilities that were unavailable with Guest-Tek's previous call centre configuration. The main server is hosted in downtown Calgary and business continuity is ensured through remote survivable locations at Guest-Tek's northeast Calgary head office and in Warsaw, Poland. Currently totaling 140 seats, the solution is designed to allow the expansion of existing sites and the addition of new locations globally as the need arises. The project mandate also includes the creation of a global corporate VOIP-based telephony system running from the same technology platform.
