C-COR Exhibits and Presents at VidTrans & SMPTE Advanced Motion Imaging 2005 Joint

29 January 2005

C-COR Incorporated (Nasdaq:CCBL - News), a global provider of interoperable network solutions for the Internet Protocol (IP) era that include access and transport products, software systems, and technical services, will showcase the Company's IP video portfolio at the VidTrans & SMPTE Advanced Motion Imaging Joint Conference to be held at the Crowne Plaza Ravinia, Atlanta, Georgia, January 30 - February 2, 2005. In addition, John Dale, Senior Product Line Manager of C-COR Access & Transport, will address the new metrics necessary for streaming video over IP networks in his presentation, "Consideration for Real Time Video Over Packet Networks." Robert Castellano, Chief Technologist of C-COR Access & Transport, will also be discussing how full convergence of IP networks can be achieved in his presentation, "Flow Based Networking Over Resilient Packet Ring."

C-COR New Era Transport Portfolio

C-COR will display the Company's transport product families and demonstrate their capabilities in its Booth 1 and 2 at the Conference. C-COR will feature its next-generation transport platforms, the Multi-Service Packet Switch (MPS) and the PLEXiS, as well as its DV6000 digital video system. The MPS is the industry's first L2 based 10 Gigabit Resilient Packet Ring (RPR) system using flow networking technology to provide Quality of Service (QoS) for transport of IP over Ethernet. The PLEXiS platform is a C-DWDM/optical Ethernet transport solution that enables triple play service from the network core to the customer premise.

C-COR Showcases IP Streaming Video Tranport Over RPR Video Network

C-COR will be providing the backbone for a live multi-vendor IP video streaming demonstration over RPR using the Company's MPS product line. The MPS will be distributing multiple live IP multicast video streaming sessions that will be displayed in a common area. The demonstration will show interoperability between several vendors' IP video encoder/decoder products.

In addition, C-COR will also feature a high definition (HD) video demonstration on a large display in the Company's booth. The Company's nCUBE video server will stream HD video through the MPS metro RPR network out to the access network via the PLEXiS customer premise equipment. C-COR completed the acquisition of nCUBE Corporation, a worldwide provider of on demand media and digital advertising systems, in December 2004.

C-COR Panel Presentations

Two C-COR technologists from the Company's Access & Transport Business Unit will share their expertise and experience on IP infrastructure issues and solutions as members of conference panels. On Tuesday, February 1st, C-COR's John Dale will address the topic "Considerations for Real Time Video Over Packet Networks" for the Video Over IP session. His presentation will reflect Subsection 2 of the recommendations of the Video Service Forum Real Time Video Over IP Infrastructure Activity Group, of which he is Co-Chair. The presentation will cover characteristics of packet networks, need for standards, current metrics, video design principles, new performance metrics, aggregate versus per flow metrics, in-service versus out-of-service metrics, unconditioned service, conditioned service, loss distance/loss period, and the exhibit area demonstration. The group's recommendations, once finalized, will be published by the ITU (International Telecommunications Union) for packet network performance specific to real time video applications.

C-COR's Robert Castellano will present the topic "Flow Based Networking Over Resilient Packet Ring" for the February 2nd session on Application of Video over IP. While the connectionless nature of RPR and IP networks enables the delivery of "any service, from anywhere, to anywhere, at any time," these networks, by themselves, do not meet the stringent QoS requirements for constant bit use. One solution, over-provisioning, places such a heavy tax on the network that its costs may outweigh the advantages of packet-based networks. An alternative to over-provisioning is flow based networking that maintains the underlying flexibility of a connectionless network, while delivering QoS for critical applications. Mr. Castellano's presentation examines the advantages of flow based networking over RPR in delivering voice, video, and data to the home or business in an on demand world.
