C-COR Brings IP-Era Transport and On Demand Solutions to NAB 200516 April 2005
C-COR Incorporated (Nasdaq:CCBL - News), a global provider of interoperable solutions that simplify the transition to on demand networks, heads into NAB 2005 (Las Vegas Convention Center, April 18-21) with an expanded open-architecture portfolio of solutions to launch HD (high definition) IP (Internet Protocol) video, voice, and high-speed data applications over advanced broadband networks.
C-COR's exhibit (Booth SU11531, South Hall) will showcase the Company's HD video transport, intelligent packet transport with advanced QoS (Quality of Service), video backhaul, Fiber-to-the-Premise system, and on demand management solutions. Specific active demonstrations will highlight C-COR's dual solution capabilities to transport both uncompressed HD video as well as video over IP with an interface to the Company's on demand management system for VOD content management. New C-COR products featured at this year's NAB include:
The MPS (Multi-Service Packet Switch), the industry's first L2-based, 10 Gigabit RPR (Resilient Packet Ring) system that uses a flow networking technology to provide QoS for transport of IP over Ethernet. RPR technology combines the high availability and reliability of existing voice-optimized circuit-switched infrastructures with the superior bandwidth utilization, simplicity, and cost advantages of Ethernet. These capabilities make RPR well suited to support converged multi-service networks that carry bandwidth-hungry data, voice, and video traffic. The 2 GigE and 10 GigE PLEXiS(TM) that complements the MPS as a next-generation transport platform and combines Gigabit Ethernet transport modules with DWDM and CWDM hardware to provide a true network core-to-customer premise transport solution for services such as VOD, HDTV, broadcast video, high-speed Internet, and VoIP. The latest addition to the PLEXiS line is the BXE CPI device for long-reach optical local connection supporting business services. An enhanced DV6000® digital video system with the introduction of transport modules and an integrated transport management system. The new HDSDI/SDI/DVB-ASI Transport and Tributary Modules expand the DV's capability to include uncompressed high definition video transport and single channel SDI tributary transport. These modules create both a cost effective solution for new channel rollouts and a simplified method for migrating existing analog video circuits into digital video circuits. In addition, the DV Information & Monitoring Interface System (IMI-9000) that provides a common, standards-based element management interface for the entire DV product line now offers integrated transport management capabilities for both the PLEXiS and MPS off the same platform. The nABLE(TM) On Demand Management System that gives operators the flexibility to manage any kind of content -- FVOD, SVOD, VOD, HD VOD, nPVR, ad insertion, and other on demand services -- from a single platform. nABLE reduces manual intervention, simplifies operations, and lowers costs because one process manages VOD at corporate, regional, and local levels, in real time and across different VOD delivery systems.
