Ascalade launches new VoIP phone featuring ClearAudio(TM) technology25 June 2006
Ascalade Communications Inc. (TSX: ACG) announced today the newest addition to its Companion(TM) series of Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) phones. The new Companion Simple VoIP phone with ClearAudio(TM) technology is now available for sale to new and existing strategic partners and customers, including Ascalade's leading branded telephony and PC accessory customers. The first commercially available product will be released in July 2006. The Companion Simple is Ascalade's first product to feature its unique ClearAudio(TM) technology, which offers a crystal clear digital sound experience. Ascalade's ClearAudio(TM) technology combines wideband audio, which supports a broader range of sound frequencies and a higher voice sampling rate, with Ascalade's acoustic expertise in telephone design, giving superior voice quality and clarity. The Companion Simple is the entry level model in Ascalade's series of VoIP products that enables users to easily access the benefits of making voice calls over the internet. Fully integrated with Skype, the popular Internet communication software, the Companion Simple connects directly to the USB port of the computer and replaces a headset with a uniquely designed and user-friendly phone. The phone's simple design gives the user "one touch" access to their Skype contact list, a keypad for easy phone number dialing, as well as volume control and LED notification for new Skype alerts on the handset. "We are pleased to announce the newest addition to our Companion VoIP product line," said Edmund Ho, President and CEO of Ascalade Communications Inc. "The Companion Simple targets the entry level segment of Skype users and is part of our ongoing strategy to provide our strategic partners and customers with innovative products for the growing VoIP market." Ascalade's Companion series of VoIP phones are designed to address a large and growing market segment of consumers who already use VoIP communications on their personal computers with Internet communication software.
