Archer Entertainment to Digitize Cinemas and BellSouth Chooses Tektronix for Real-Time VoIP Service Monitoring

Tektronix, Inc., a worldwide provider of communications network management and diagnostics products, announced that BellSouth (NYSE: BLS) will deploy the GeoProbe voice-over-IP (VoIP) monitoring solution from Tektronix' Unified Assurance suite throughout its IP network. GeoProbe will provide BellSouth with end-to-end performance monitoring that enables rapid troubleshooting as well as identification of service degradations and network problems that may impact VoIP service quality. AT&T Inc. (NYSE:T) will begin requiring its 7 million Internet customers to agree that the company owns their account information and can share it with government or law-enforcement agencies. Privacy advocates criticized AT&T's move, which takes effect Friday, but the nation's largest phone company said it was merely updating and clarifying its privacy policy. "The spirit of the privacy policy and the practices have not changed," said Michael Coe, a spokesman for AT&T.
