Alcatel Taiwan Delivers Local Number Portability With Signalware14 June 2005
At the CommunicAsia 2005 conference in Singapore, Ulticom®, Inc. (NasdaqNM:ULCM - News), a premier provider of network signaling software solutions, today announced that Alcatel Taiwan has integrated Ulticom's Signalware® into its Open Service Platform (OSP) product, delivering number portability services to carriers in the Asia Pacific region. Asia Pacific Telecom Group (APTG), a competitive broadband network provider of wireline, wireless and Internet services in Taiwan, is deploying the solution. Number portability is a key regulatory requirement in many regions of the world, allowing subscribers to switch service providers while keeping their subscriber numbers unchanged. Many carriers are taking advantage of this mandate and have found a secondary use of the capability in seamlessly migrating their existing customers from circuit-based access networks to next-generation networks providing Voice over IP (VoIP) services.
"Ulticom has been a long-time supplier to Alcatel, providing enabling signaling technology," said Rachael Chang, director of Alcatel Taiwan. "We chose Signalware for its feature richness and scalability so we could deliver a number portability solution for the most demanding networks in the world. Working and winning together in the Asia Pacific region was no exception."
"We are very happy to be Alcatel's trusted partner and to always provide them with flexible signaling solutions to meet evolving network requirements," said Osman Duman, vice president of marketing at Ulticom. "It is exciting to see our products gain market share in a highly competitive and demanding marketplace such as Taiwan."
Ulticom will be exhibiting its products in the USA Pavilion, Booth 4F3-08 at this week's CommunicAsia exhibition in Singapore, June 14-16, and will demonstrate its new IMS-Ready(TM) Signalware offering. IMS-Ready Signalware is a complete set of carrier-grade signaling software for the development and deployment of IMS network components and applications.
