AGN Networks Enables Rapid Connectivity for Interop New York With SIP Trunking for Avaya IP Telephony14 December 2005
AGN Packet Trunk(TM) Now Rated Avaya-Compliant - Allowing Avaya Customers to Connect to the PSTN Via IP Trunking for Real-Time Access NEW YORK, Dec. 13 /PRNewswire/ -- AGN Networks, a leading business- centric, Internet telephony service provider, today announced that the company's SIP trunking service has enabled the rapid setup of telecommunications connectivity for this week's Interop New York tradeshow. AGN is providing public network connections for an IP telephony solution provided to the show by Avaya Inc., (NYSE: AV), a leading global provider of business communications applications, systems and services. Both AGN Networks and Avaya were selected by Interop New York to support InteropNet - a multivendor network providing critical communication services to exhibitors, conference sessions and meeting rooms during the December 12-16 show at the Jacob Javits Convention Center. In recognition of the short setup time allotted, AGN deployed SIP-based Packet Trunk(TM) services that provide real-time network access and are compliance-tested by Avaya for compatibility with the company's IP telephony solutions. AGN Networks Packet Trunk service allows operators of IP- enabled Avaya telephony systems to establish an immediate connection to the Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN) via virtual IP trunks in native Session Initiation Protocol (SIP). "Ordinarily, trunk lines to support show communications are time-consuming to install and must be ordered months in advance," said Lenny Heymann, general manager of MediaLive International Inc., the company producing Interop New York. "The SIP trunking solutions provided by AGN Networks integrate seamlessly with our Avaya IP telephony solution and eliminate that wait by harnessing the ubiquity of the Internet and the efficiencies associated with Web applications. Using a simple Web portal, they were able to establish connectivity for us in real time." "Interop New York is a perfect venue to illustrate the power of AGN services," said Michael Hartley, company spokesperson. "The ability to go onsite in New York City and deploy a fully functional PBX with a full complement of telco services in less than three days truly highlights the benefits of pairing AGN services and Avaya. The fact that Avaya is the global leader in IP telephony for the enterprise(1) underscores the significance of our strategic alliance." AGN Networks is a member of the Avaya DeveloperConnection Program-an initiative to develop, market and sell innovative third-party products that interoperate with Avaya technology and extend the value of a company's investment in its network. As a member of the program, AGN Networks is eligible to submit products for compatibility testing by the Avaya Solution Interoperability and Test Lab, where Avaya engineers develop a comprehensive test plan for each application to verify whether it is Avaya compliant. Doing so ensures businesses can confidently add best-in-breed capabilities to their network without having to replace their existing infrastructure-speeding deployment of new applications and reducing both network complexity and implementation costs. The AGN Networks Packet Trunk service is now compliance-tested by Avaya for compatibility with Avaya Communication Manager 3.0 and with the Avaya SIP Enablement Server. AGN is among the first service providers in the industry to achieve Avaya compliance. "By offering compliance testing to the many innovative companies like AGN Networks that are members of our DeveloperConnection program, Avaya promotes interoperable solutions that are easier and more cost-effective for companies to implement within their existing, multivendor networks," said Eric Rossman, vice president, developer relations and technical alliances, Avaya. "That means that together we're expanding the options businesses have for solving their most complex challenges and are helping them derive greater value from their communications infrastructure.
